Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili are currently vying to be Liverpool\u2019s number one goalkeeper, but there could be changes in the summer.<\/p>\n

After a deal was first agreed in the summer of 2024, Mamardashvili<\/a> eventually arrived at Anfield ahead of the 2025\/26 campaign getting underway.<\/p>\n

The shot-stopper was described as \u2018outstanding\u2019<\/a> following his debut for the Reds against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n

Who was the better Liverpool goalkeeper \u2013 prime Alisson or prime Pepe Reina? <\/p>\n

However, despite his early promise and reputation, he has continued to play second-fiddle to Alisson<\/a> for much of the current campaign.<\/p>\n

Giorgi Mamardashvili eyeing loan move, Alisson\u2019s contract ends in 2026 not 2027<\/p>\n

In turn, it now looks as though there could be changes within the Liverpool<\/a> goalkeeper ranks this summer.<\/p>\n

Graeme Bailey of TeamTalk<\/a> provided an update on the Reds\u2019 two main shot-stoppers this week.<\/p>\n

He confirmed that while some outlets suggest the Brazilian is under contract until 2027, his current deal will actually expire in 2026.<\/p>\n

However, Liverpool do have an option to extend that contract by a further 12 months, which they are expected to take up.<\/p>\n

This may, however, then lead to Mamardashvili departing Liverpool during the 2026 summer transfer window.<\/p>\n

The Georgian is said to be growing frustrated at his current role, and could now consider requesting a loan move for 2026\/27 in order to garner more regular minutes moving forward.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not 100% clear if Liverpool would sanction such a move, though they are aware of Mamardashvili\u2019s concerns.<\/p>\n

Should the 25-year-old indeed depart, the Reds would surely have to dip into the market for a replacement.<\/p>\n

Mamardashvili is not playing regularly, but he was needed for a spell of five Premier League games earlier this season when Alisson was injured.<\/p>\n

Liverpool lost four of those games, keeping just one clean sheet when they beat Aston Villa 2-0.<\/p>\n

How much of that was down to Mamardashvili or simply just a result of their overall poor form as a team is up for debate, though it wasn\u2019t the most impressive audition from the former Valencia man.<\/p>\n
