A third (37 percent) said they would continue to support the governing party.<\/p>\n<p>The polling of 2,073 adults in Britain Sunday and Monday came just days after the Greens <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/uk-greens-snatch-labour-seat-gorton-denton-by-election-hannah-spencer-keir-starmer-blow\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">won the Greater Manchester constituency<\/a> of Gorton and Denton from Labour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe result is likely to have been driven to a significant extent by the publicity from the Denton &amp; Gorton by-election,\u201d said YouGov\u2019s Anthony Wells.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat result may have had an impact in terms of making the Greens appear a more viable option and less of a wasted vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The study found that the Greens, whose membership numbers have surged since Zack Polanski<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/zack-polanski-named-green-party-leader\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> became leader last September<\/a>, are the most popular political party in all age categories under 50.
