All Nippon Airways (ANA) announced on August 5, 2025, that it will be offering free high-speed Wi-Fi across all classes of service onboard most of its international flights.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This internet connectivity service will be provided by US satellite operator Viasat through the deployment of its new Amara platform.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Viasat\u2019s Amara, which was unveiled in April 2025, is a multi-network, multi-orbit solution which can be accessed through a single antenna and is expected to be able to deliver streaming-quality internet speeds onboard aircraft.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Japanese carrier will start rolling out the new system on its B767-300ER, which it uses on short- and medium-haul flights within Asia. The first six aircraft of the type will be equipped in the fiscal year 2026, which starts in April 2026 in Japan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
ANA also intends to retrofit 19 B787-9 aircraft within the same fiscal period, as well as install the high-speed internet service on 18 of the new B777-9 aircraft<\/a>. The latter rollout timeline will be contingent upon Boeing managing to gain certification for this new aircraft type and the fulfillment of the expected delivery timelines.\u00a0<\/p>\n This rollout plan envisages that more than 80% of ANA\u2019s international fleet will be equipped with high-speed internet connectivity by 2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n With this move, ANA has become the latest in a number of large airlines that have pledged to offer high-speed internet to all passengers for free in the near future.
