Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> has skewered Melania Trump\u2019s appearance at the UN<\/a>, ripping her for promoting peace while President Trump continues to bomb Iran. <\/a><\/p>\n

The late-night star mocked the first lady\u2019s pronunciation of some words before lamenting, \u201cThose poor UN translators.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first time ever that a first lady has presided over a Security Council meeting less than 72 hours after her husband started a war,\u201d Kimmel said in his show on Monday evening<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The late-night host<\/a> poked fun at the first lady’s glammed-up appearance, which included a gray Dior jacket, a matching wool skirt, a black Dior leather belt, and Christian Louboutin stilettos. The jacket is available online<\/a> for $985.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like the worst season of The Bachelorette<\/a> yet,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cBut even though it was her first time, Melania handled it like a seasoned old pro.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then played a series of clips from the meeting, beginning with the first lady\u2019s introduction, where she stumbled over the words \u201cSecurity Council\u201d and gaveled it in as the \u201cten thousand, one hundred and thirteen meeting\u201d rather than the thirteenth.<\/p>\n

Melania Trump<\/a> is Slovenian, and English is not her first language.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband wanted to be here,\u201d said Kimmel, putting on an accent to mimic the first lady, \u201cbut your escalator is trying to kill him.\u201d<\/p>\n

That was a reference to the president\u2019s anger over the couple\u2019s visit to the UN last September<\/a>, when he raged about being caught on a malfunctioning escalator<\/a> and experiencing technical glitches with his teleprompter and microphone as he spoke.<\/p>\n

While the first lady avoided a further escalator mishap on Monday, Kimmel pointed out the appearance was rich with irony amid the death toll from her husband\u2019s war<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Iranian death toll has risen to 787<\/a>, Iran’s Red Crescent said on Tuesday, and six Americans have been confirmed killed<\/a> as the conflict escalates across the Middle East.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first lady was there reportedly to promote education, and as a means to advance tolerance and peace around the world,\u201d Kimmel said, at times laughing and raising his eyebrows.<\/p>\n

Melania Trump opened her remarks at the meeting on children, technology,<\/a> and education with condolences to those who had lost loved ones and a smooth recovery to those injured in this \u201cchallenging time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe U.S. stands with all of the children throughout the world. I hope soon peace will be yours,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

After critiquing the first lady\u2019s appearance, Kimmel returned to mocking her mispronunciation.<\/p>\n

The comedian suggested she may have started a trend with her version of \u2018significant\u2019, which she mistakenly pronounced as \u2018signifisant,\u2019 although he joked that perhaps \u2018Signifisant\u2019 was her \u201cnew signature perfume.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel also laughed over her mispronunciation of \u2018democratizing.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cThose poor UN translators. I mean, how do you say \u2018democratinizing\u2019 in Chinese? In fairness, she had a very long day trying on hats.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel has been a long-time critic of the Trumps, with the president raging<\/a> that he has \u2018NO TALENT\u2019 and should be canceled.<\/p>\n
