West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has been hiding a secret according to a new claim that would go a long way to explaining his recent performance levels.<\/p>\n

Hammers supporters probably never thought they would see the day where Jarrod Bowen<\/a> was among their worst performers.<\/p>\n

Skipper Bowen has carried West Ham<\/a> on his back for the last two years until others have finally stepped up to the plate over the last couple of months.<\/p>\n

But that weight of pressure and expectation appears to have taken its toll on Bowen of late, leading to a string of underwhelming displays relative to his exceedingly high standards.<\/p>\n

Bowen has been hiding information and it explains his poor performances for West Ham<\/p>\n

Now a new claim about Bowen\u2019s worrying West Ham secret has explained everything.<\/p>\n

Nuno Espirito Santo<\/a> gave Bowen a week off to recharge his batteries recently, which he used to take a holiday to New York.<\/p>\n

However, Bowen\u2019s performances against Bournemouth and Liverpool have been under par just when West Ham desperately need him at his brilliant best in order to secure Premier League survival.<\/p>\n

A group of fans have told\u00a0Hammers News\u00a0that\u00a0Bowen might not be suited to being West Ham captain<\/a>, feeling the added pressure is taking something away from his game.<\/p>\n

Nuno has spoken out in defence of Bowen<\/a> ahead of West Ham\u2019s crucial game with Fulham.<\/p>\n

There have even been some outlandish suggestions from a minority that Bowen should be dropped.<\/p>\n

That is exactly what the man himself does not want to happen, though.<\/p>\n

Because Bowen has reportedly been keeping injuries hidden from Nuno and West Ham\u2019s medical team to ensure he is not forced to sit out any games.<\/p>\n

Fan Sided\u2019s Green Street Hammers<\/a> claims to have a team source with knowledge of Bowen\u2019s situation and the medical team.<\/p>\n

Bowen selflessly playing through injury to try and save Hammers<\/p>\n

The report claims Bowen has knocks \u2018all over his body\u2019 and suggests he has made a choice to keep the severity of them a secret to avoid being rested.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of them admit that one knock is more severe than others,\u201d the team source said.<\/p>\n

Many Hammers fans have assumed Bowen was carrying a knock.<\/p>\n

Although some felt he had maybe grown tired of West Ham\u2019s regression amid rumours of a summer exit.<\/p>\n

One thing that must be made clear is that the England star\u2019s work rate is never in question.<\/p>\n

And his clutch of poor performances should not be too harshly judged in the context of hundreds of brilliant displays in claret and blue.<\/p>\n

It should also be noted Bowen still managed an assist despite his struggles at Anfield.<\/p>\n

He also got himself in a position to net a last gasp winner against Bournemouth but fired wide.<\/p>\n

The hope is that Bowen can rediscover the sharpness and instinctiveness which has set him apart from everyone else for so long.<\/p>\n
