{"id":455782,"date":"2026-03-03T19:21:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T19:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/455782\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T19:21:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T19:21:09","slug":"car-park-extension-at-bostons-pilgrim-hospital-gets-planning-approval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/455782\/","title":{"rendered":"Car park extension at Boston\u2019s Pilgrim Hospital gets planning approval"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A hospital has been given the green light to expand its car park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lincsonline.co.uk\/boston\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston<\/a>\u2019s Pilgrim Hospital &#8211; which provides healthcare for residents across the county &#8211; has been granted permission to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lincsonline.co.uk\/boston\/application-to-extend-hospital-parking-by-200-plus-spaces-9450349\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">add around 200 additional spaces<\/a> for staff due demand exceeding current capacity.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 4665 3067\" alt=\"Boston&#x2019;s Pilgrim Hospital.\" data-root=\"\/_media\/img\/\" data-path=\"R63LIH8UJEFEB0YPJ7NQ.jpg\" data-ar=\"1.52\"\/>Boston\u2019s Pilgrim Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoston\u2019s Pilgrim Hospital is a regionally significant resource as regards health provision. Not only does it serve the town, the second largest settlement in Lincolnshire, but also a wide hinterland and through its specialist services the whole county,\u201d the Boston Borough Council planning officer statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the site is a crowded with a significant shortfall in staff parking capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis results in extensive parking at the side of internal roadways, hampering circulation on the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs such the proposal would augment the efficient operation of the hospital and the provision of the services provided by the NHS to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/publicnoticeportal.uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read about planning applications in your area via our public notices portal<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The gravel car park will be built on a 0.61 hectare area of land with access will be solely through the hospital\u2019s existing Beach Car Park.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed land formerly acted as a plant nursery, but after the tenants vacated the site it became a target for anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>Former agricultural buildings on the site have now been cleared.<\/p>\n<p>A planning statement provided by agent Oglesby and Limb explained: \u201cThere is now real pressure on the Pilgrim Hospital site for additional parking because the existing capacity has been exceeded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis addition is needed quickly to relieve pressure on the hospital and particularly on its delivery of services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report concluded: \u201cThe proposal will augment the efficient operation of a strategically important community health facility and is sound in principle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will integrate acceptable with the distinctive character of the locality, cause no adverse impacts to neighbour or public amenity or to highway safety, is capable of implementation without increasing the risk of flooding and can meet the required level of biodiversity net gain.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A hospital has been given the green light to expand its car park.
