Pitch Perfect star Elizabeth Banks<\/a> and Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen star in The Miniature Wife, an upcoming relationship dramedy analysing the power imbalance within the protagonists’ marriage with an absurdist, hyper-literal premise \u2013 and we now have a release date.<\/p>\n

Anticipated by a teaser, the series is based on the short story written by Manuel Gonzales, and follows married couples Les and Lindy as they navigate the unique challenges of their relationship after a tech glitch turns Lindy into a doll-sized woman. <\/p>\n

Hailed as “the ultimate relationship crisis”, Lindy’s transformation widens the cracks in her marriage to Les, who feels guilty over the accident but also, quite worryingly, admits “this is kinda nice”.<\/p>\n

“Except for the tiny elephant in the room,” Lindy replies, without missing a beat.<\/p>\n

Created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner, who also serve as executive producers alongside Banks and Macfadyen, The Miniature Wife premieres on Sky and NOW on 9 April in the UK and Ireland, with all episodes dropping on the streamer at once. <\/p>\n

Banks and Macfadyen are joined by Beau Is Afraid star Zoe Lister-Jones, The Handmaid’s Tale’s O-T Fagbenle, Fleabag star Sian Clifford and Death and Other Details’ Sofia Rosinsky as series regulars. Ronny Chieng, Aasif Mandvi, Rong Fu and Tricia Black round out the cast in recurring roles. <\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Banks featured in star-studded Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, also starring Zoey Deutch as the titular Midwestern bride-to-be, who goes to Hollywood to even the scales after she finds out her fianc\u00e9 has used his celebrity hall pass.<\/p>\n

Banks appears as herself alongside a host of stars playing fictionalised versions of themselves, including Jennifer Aniston and Jon Hamm, while The White Lotus season 2’s Sabrina Impacciatore portrays Ludovica.<\/p>\n

Macfadyen will next be seen in Tomas Alfredson’s drama<\/a> S\u00e9ance on a Wet Afternoon, also starring Rachel Weisz. The film is based on the 1961 novel of the same name by Mark McShane, adapted for the screen by Adolescence writer Jack Thorne.<\/p>\n

The Miniature Wife is set to air on Sky<\/a> and stream on NOW from 9 April.<\/p>\n
