{"id":458245,"date":"2026-03-05T03:51:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T03:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/458245\/"},"modified":"2026-03-05T03:51:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T03:51:10","slug":"christian-bale-talks-the-new-american-psycho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/458245\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Bale Talks The New &#8220;American Psycho&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/christian-bale-talks-the-new-american-psycho.jpg\" data-caption=\"Artwork courtesy of Lionsgate\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/christian-bale-talks-the-new-american-psycho.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"christian-bale-talks-the-new-american-psycho\"\/><\/a>Artwork courtesy of Lionsgate<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Dark Knight\u201d and \u201cThe Prestige\u201d actor Christian Bale has shared his first comments on filmmaker Luca Guadagnino\u2019s new \u201cAmerican Psycho\u201d movie adaptation.<\/p>\n<p>Bale\u2019s acclaimed performance as Patrick Bateman in Mary Harron\u2019s 2000 feature adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis\u2019 controversial \u201cAmerican Psycho\u201d was one of his breakthrough roles and remains one of his most famous works.<\/p>\n<p>Out promoting Maggie Gyllenhaal\u2019s new \u201cThe Bride\u201d film this week, Bale was asked by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/christian-bale-new-american-psycho-luca-guadagnino-1236521050\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">THR<\/a> for his take on the new version that \u201cCall Me By Your Name\u201d and \u201cChallengers\u201d director Guadagnino is developing.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, he was asked if he had any actors in his mind to take on the Bateman role.  He says he\u2019s open to whoever\u2019s brave enough to do it:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoever wants to give it a shot, give it a pop.  I loved making it with [director] Mary Harron so many years back, fantastic memories of it all. Bold choice of anyone to try to do a \u2014 I don\u2019t know if they\u2019re doing a remake or what, I don\u2019t know anything else about it. But all the best to \u2019em, I like brave people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new Patrick Bateman has yet to be cast.  Guadagnino previously teased last year that this would not be a remake of the Bale film as much as a whole new take on the book.  Scott Z.
