Recently, the news came that the \u201cGhostbusters\u201d franchise was making a comeback in animated form on two fronts \u2013 a TV series and a movie, both crafted by Sony Pictures Animation and both for Netflix.<\/p>\n

Sam Jarvis (\u201cDollface\u201d) was reportedly hired last month to pen the script for the film, which aimed to bring a \u2018Spider-Verse\u2019 sensibility to the \u201cGhostbusters\u201d universe.<\/p>\n

Now, scooper Jeff Sneider appeared on The Hot Mic<\/a> this week. He confirmed, \u201cthere are two Ghostbusters projects in the works right now. There\u2019s a movie, an animated movie. And an animated series. Both at Netflix. Sony\u2019s producing them both.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then said he could reveal that the film is being called \u2018Ecto\u2019 and was being told from the perspective of a ghost.<\/p>\n

He also indicated that the TV series is supposedly set in the 1990s, during the Walter Peck character\u2019s initial run for mayor. Former \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d head writer Elliott Kalan reportedly serves as executive producer and writer on that.<\/p>\n

Sneider speculates both projects would be aiming at the same audience age group as something like the upcoming \u201cStranger Things: Tales From \u201985\u201d.<\/p>\n

The property was previously adapted for animation back in the late 1980s with the beloved \u201cThe Real Ghostbusters\u201d series.<\/p>\n
