Belfast has been announced as the venue for Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann for the second year in a row in 2027.<\/p>\n
The decision was made today following a meeting of the ardchomhairle of Comhaltas Ceolt\u00f3ir\u00ed \u00c9ireann at Cult\u00farlann na h\u00c9ireann in Dublin.<\/p>\n
It follows a move to bring the world’s largest celebration of Irish traditional music, song, dance, and culture to Belfast this year.<\/p>\n
“The decision to award the Fleadh to Belfast for a second year is a reflection of the commitment and hard work from Belfast City Council and Ards CC\u00c9 to delivering a Fleadh that is welcoming and inclusive for all,” said the director general of Comhaltas Ceolt\u00f3ir\u00ed \u00c9ireann, Labhr\u00e1s \u00d3 Murch\u00fa.<\/p>\n
Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Paul Doherty, said: “We’re delighted our city will host the Fleadh again in 2027. It\u2019s a tremendous honour for Belfast and underscores its status as the island\u2019s only UNESCO City of Music.<\/p>\n
“It allows us to build on 2026 and further strengthen Belfast\u2019s position as a vibrant, inclusive city that celebrates its rich cultural heritage.”<\/p>\n
Uachtar\u00e1n of Comhaltas, Attracta N\u00ed Bhr\u00e1daigh said: “I am absolutely delighted that the 2027 Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann has been awarded to Belfast for a second year.<\/p>\n
“The commitment and cooperation between Comhaltas, Belfast City Council and Ards CC\u00c9 has made this decision possible.”<\/p>\n
The Fleadh Cheoil will run this year from 2-9 August. It will be the first time the Fleadh is held in Belfast and only the second time it has gone north in 75 years.<\/p>\n
