\n\tWhile Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a> has been met with tomatoes over his dismissive comments about live performance, several troupes are extending an olive branch.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the 4x Oscar nominee quipped that \u201cno one cares\u201d about performance arts like ballet<\/a> and opera<\/a>, he\u2019s been publicly inundated with both backlash and invitations to see several different troupes perform.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis one\u2019s for you, @tchalamet\u2026\u201d the Metropolitan Opera captioned a video montage<\/a> of the work that goes into one of its productions.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe English National Opera offered \u201cfree tickets on us to help you fall back in love with opera anytime,\u201d writing on Instagram<\/a>, \u201cThis is your official invitation. Let\u2019s see if we can change your mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Royal Ballet & Opera boasted \u201cthousands of people<\/a>\u201d pack their venue every night, \u201cFor the music. For the storytelling. For the sheer magic of live performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf you\u2019d like to reconsider, @tchalamet, our doors are open,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n

\n\tChalamet previously remarked to Matthew McConaughey during \u2018A CNN & Variety Town Hall Event<\/a>\u2018 that \u201cno one cares about [opera or ballet] anymore,\u201d prompting swift backlash from the performing arts community.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m really right in the middle, Matthew,\u201d he said. \u201cCause I admire people, and I\u2019ve done it myself, [who] go on a talk show and go, \u2018Hey, we gotta keep movie theaters alive. You know, we gotta keep this genre alive.\u2019 And another part of me feels like, if people wanna see it, like Barbie, like Oppenheimer, they\u2019re gonna go see it and go out of their way and be loud and proud about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChalamet added, \u201cAnd I don\u2019t want to be working in ballet or opera, or things where it\u2019s like, \u2018Hey, keep this thing alive.\u2019 Even though it\u2019s like, no one cares about this anymore. All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership.\u201d<\/p>\n
