India are pumped and ready to play the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand. In fact, the team are so excited about the game that, if allowed, head coach Gautam Gambhir is also ready to pad up and play the summit clash, joked India captain Suryakumar Yadav.<\/p>\n
India beat England in a high-tempo semi-final on Thursday, March 5. Despite scoring a mammoth 253 runs, India only won by seven runs, owing to Jacob Bethell’s fantastic century. “If it was in his power, he would pad up and come out to bat. He has been in these situations, he has won World Cups,” India captain Suryakumar Yadav said in the pre-match press conference.<\/p>\n

Suryakumar said that Gambhir had removed the milestone culture from the side. Surya added that Gambhir’s Indian team is focused on getting the best out of each other and executing the roles given to them.<\/p>\n “His mantra has been that everybody\u2019s contribution should come together in a sport like this. He believes that you can\u2019t win tournaments with one or two players\u2019 contributions. He is focused on getting the best out of each and every player. In the batting department, he wants everybody to stay focused. The main thing is that he has removed the notion of personal milestones from the team. It\u2019s a team game,” Suryakumar Yadav said.<\/p>\n CULTURE OF DRESSING ROOM<\/p>\n The Indian batting order clicked against the English side. Apart from Abhishek Sharma, who got out after scoring nine runs, no other batter had a strike rate below 170. The captain highlighted the cameos made in the match and said that even an 18 off 7 balls from Tilak Varma was worth its weight in gold.<\/p>\n “If you see the last game, Tilak made 18 off 7 balls. We treat that similar to someone getting a fifty or a hundred. That\u2019s been the culture in the dressing room. That\u2019s his focus,” Suryakumar Yadav said.<\/p>\n “For him, nothing is bigger than the team goal. If it warrants us to hit a six off the first delivery we face, then we have to hit it. If it warrants us to put our natural game aside and play according to the conditions, then we have to do it. That\u2019s his theory. It spreads a lot of positivity and creates a great environment,” he concluded.<\/p>\n India take on a tricky New Zealand side, who beat one of the tournament favourites, South Africa, in the semi-final. Finn Allen and Tim Seifert tore apart South Africa in a chase of 170 runs. Allen scored a hundred in just 33 balls, helping New Zealand chase down the target in less than 13 overs.<\/p>\n The final against New Zealand<\/a> will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
