Limited Run Games doesn’t have the greatest reputation among enthusiasts, and its Sonic X Shadow Generations<\/a> Collector’s Edition is a prime example of why.<\/p>\n

In short, this particular product includes a large statue of the titular characters stood atop a Dreamcast, and in addition to taking a very long time to manufacture and ship to customers, the statue itself wasn’t of a very high quality.<\/p>\n

On top of that, not all customers have even received their Collector’s Editions yet.<\/p>\n

The company has finally taken ownership of the situation in a recently issued statement.<\/p>\n

“We owe you a clear apology. Seriously,” the statement begins, going on to describe the aforementioned statue as “not up to the standard you deserve, or the standard we set for ourselves”, saying it’s “not acceptable”.<\/p>\n

The statement confirms Limited Run Games is now under “new leadership”, bringing a “new vision and higher expectations for what an LRG release should mean for the gaming community and for our fans.” It pledges to be much more transparent going forward, and to “do better in every future LRG release”.<\/p>\n

As for the Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition, Limited Run is “pausing any additional shipments” effective immediately.<\/p>\n

It’s doing this because it’s “going back into a completely new production cycle” for the statue that “matches what fans expect” from such an item.<\/p>\n

Those who have already received their Collector’s Edition will receive an email within the next week to go over what their options are. “Those options will include a no-cost replacement path once the quality-assured statue is ready. We will also offer a refund option for customers who do not want to wait, with details in that email.”<\/p>\n

The statement concludes with a link to a production blog<\/a>, where the team will update fans on the progress of the new Collector’s Edition statue. The first update to the blog will be this Friday, 13th March.<\/p>\n

It’s certainly quite the saga, but it does at least seem as though Limited Run is finally holding itself accountable.<\/p>\n
