The bank said it will hold a second public consultation in the summer to gather views on the kind of nature that people would like to see featured on the notes, with a shortlist to be drawn up by a panel of wildlife experts. England is home to a range of wildlife, including\u00a0foxes, badgers, beavers, squirrels, otters, deer and seals.<\/p>\n
The new notes won’t enter circulation for several years.<\/p>\n
Victoria Cleland, chief cashier at the Bank of England, said: \u201cThe key driver for introducing a new banknote series is always to increase counterfeit resilience, but it also provides an opportunity to celebrate different aspects of the U.K.”<\/p>\n
“Nature is a great choice from a banknote authentication perspective, and means we can
showcase the U.K.\u2019s rich and varied wildlife on the next series of banknotes.”<\/p>\n
King Charles III will remain on the front of the notes. <\/p>\n
The highest note issued by the Bank of England is \u00a350.
