{"id":469919,"date":"2026-03-11T16:16:30","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T16:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/469919\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T16:16:30","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T16:16:30","slug":"dwp-universal-credit-and-pension-rises-confirmed-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/469919\/","title":{"rendered":"DWP Universal Credit and pension rises confirmed for 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The updated figures reveal how much people could receive each week or month depending on their circumstances, with some of the biggest changes affecting pensioners, carers and people on disability benefits.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Below is a breakdown of the key changes that could affect millions of claimants.\n<\/p>\n<p>  State Pension to rise again<\/p>\n<p>\n  The full new State Pension will increase from \u00a3230.25 to \u00a3241.30 a week in 2026\/27.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  That\u2019s an increase of more than \u00a311 a week, or roughly \u00a3572 a year, for those receiving the full amount.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  For those on the basic State Pension, the rate rises from \u00a3176.45 to \u00a3184.90 a week.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  These increases follow the continued application of the government\u2019s \u201ctriple lock\u201d approach, which raises pensions based on inflation, wage growth or 2.5% \u2014 whichever is highest.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Universal Credit payments increasing<\/p>\n<p>\n  People claiming Universal Credit will also see higher monthly payments.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The standard allowance will rise to:\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a3338.58 a month for single people under 25 (up from \u00a3316.98)<\/p>\n<p>  \u00a3424.90 a month for single claimants aged 25 or over (up from \u00a3400.14)<\/p>\n<p>  \u00a3666.97 a month for couples where one or both partners are 25+ (up from \u00a3628.10)<\/p>\n<p>\n  Additional elements are also increasing, including payments for children, carers and disabled claimants.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  For example:\n<\/p>\n<p>The carer element rises to \u00a3209.34 a month<\/p>\n<p>  The higher disabled child addition rises to \u00a3514.71 a month<\/p>\n<p>\n  However, one controversial change means the Limited Capability for Work and Work-Related Activity (LCWRA) amount for some new claimants will drop significantly to \u00a3217.26, although existing claimants and those with severe conditions will still receive around \u00a3429.80.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Child Benefit increases<\/p>\n<p>\n  The payments are currently worth \u00a326.05 a week for the first child and \u00a317.25 for each additional child, paid by HM Revenue and Customs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  And from April 2026, the weekly rate for the eldest child will rise to \u00a327 after the government confirmed a 3.8% increase in line with inflation.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n    Don\u2019t\u202fmiss out on Child Benefit! \ud83d\udc6a<\/p>\n<p>Over 1.4 million\u202fparents and carers\u202fhave\u202fclaimed Child Benefit online<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udcb7 \u00a326.05\/week for your first child<br \/>\u2795 \u00a317.25\/week for each\u202fadditional\u202fchild<br \/>\u2705 Plus National\u202fInsurance\u202fcredits towards your State Pension<\/p>\n<p>Claim today via the\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s6qp9kpGdM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/s6qp9kpGdM<\/a>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    \u2014 HM Revenue &amp; Customs (@HMRCgovuk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HMRCgovuk\/status\/2029476301912916061?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">March 5, 2026<\/a>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n  Officials are encouraging parents to apply through the HMRC app or online to avoid missing out on the support.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A spokesperson for HM Revenue and Customs said:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cOver 1.4 million parents and carers have already claimed Child Benefit online. If you\u2019re responsible for bringing up a child, check if you\u2019re eligible and make a claim today.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>  Disability benefits also rising<\/p>\n<p>\n  People receiving disability support will see weekly payments increase.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  For Personal Independence Payment (PIP):\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Daily living component:\n<\/p>\n<p>Standard rate: \u00a376.70 (up from \u00a373.90)<\/p>\n<p>  Enhanced rate: \u00a3114.60 (up from \u00a3110.40)<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mobility component:\n<\/p>\n<p>Standard: \u00a330.30<\/p>\n<p>  Enhanced: \u00a380.00<\/p>\n<p>\n  Meanwhile Attendance Allowance will increase to:\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a3114.60 a week (higher rate)<\/p>\n<p>  \u00a376.70 a week (lower rate)<\/p>\n<p>\n  These benefits are designed to help with the extra costs of living with long-term illness or disability.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Carer\u2019s Allowance increase confirmed<\/p>\n<p>\n  Unpaid carers will also receive a boost.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Carer\u2019s Allowance will rise from \u00a383.30 to \u00a386.45 a week.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The earnings limit \u2014 the maximum someone can earn while still claiming \u2014 will increase from \u00a3196 to \u00a3204 a week.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Statutory pay rates rising<\/p>\n<p>\n  Several statutory payments tied to work and family leave will also increase.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The standard weekly rate for payments including:\n<\/p>\n<p>Statutory Maternity Pay<\/p>\n<p>  Statutory Paternity Pay<\/p>\n<p>  Statutory Adoption Pay<\/p>\n<p>  Shared Parental Pay<\/p>\n<p>\n  will rise from \u00a3187.18 to \u00a3194.32 a week.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Statutory Sick Pay will increase to \u00a3123.25 a week, up from \u00a3118.75.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Benefit cap remains frozen<\/p>\n<p>\n  While many payments are rising, the benefit cap &#8211;
