{"id":470321,"date":"2026-03-11T21:23:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T21:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/470321\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T21:23:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T21:23:08","slug":"new-food-waste-collections-delayed-in-darlington-until-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/470321\/","title":{"rendered":"New food waste collections delayed in Darlington until June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenorthernecho.co.uk\/news\/local\/darlington\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Darlington Borough Council<\/a> said the new scheme will no longer start on March 31 after being \u201clet down\u201d by a supplier.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A revised start date of June 2 has been agreed, when it is expected to have the required recycling wagons for the new process.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Letters will be sent to households across the borough to notify residents of the change.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Under the new proposals, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenorthernecho.co.uk\/news\/25808867.new-bins-delivered-darlington-homes-scheme-change\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">every property will receive a small, sealable food waste caddy to be kept in the kitchen<\/a>, a larger food waste bin for outside and a roll of 52 biodegradable caddy liners.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Residents will be asked to put food waste, such as peelings, leftovers, out-of-date items and tea bags, in the lined caddy and put it in the outside food waste bin.
