With hype at an all-time high, there\u2019s one key question for Crimson Desert<\/a> to answer: just how will it run on consoles?<\/p>\n

Rumour has it there\u2019ll be no console reviews of the wildly ambitious console RPG prior to launch, which has understandably aroused suspicion among PS5 owners.<\/p>\n

But Korean dev Pearl Abyss has maintained a confidence throughout this game\u2019s launch cycle, and despite the lack of console footage, it doesn\u2019t appear to be hiding anything.<\/p>\n

In a video preview posted by FightinCowboy<\/a>, he shared the following statement from the studio itself:<\/p>\n

\u201cRegardless of what we say, people probably won\u2019t believe us. So instead we\u2019re sending the game to Digital Foundry, and they\u2019ll have a full analysis of performance across all the platforms at launch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our friends at Digital Foundry<\/a> have since corroborated this in the introduction to a tech Q&A they just published<\/a> with the studio.<\/p>\n

At the top of an article which has frankly gone right over our heads, Alex Battaglia confirms that his team is \u201cbusy\u201d working on coverage as we write, including a \u201cpreliminary but still very detailed look at the PS5 Pro version\u201d.<\/p>\n

Understandably it\u2019s got a lot of work to do here, so more coverage will follow.<\/p>\n

We know based on a tech sheet released this week<\/a> that Sony\u2019s supercharged system will target 60fps with ultra ray racing enabled, thanks to PSSR\u2019s<\/a> upgraded upscaler. While the internal resolution will be 1080p, it should deliver a decent 4K image if it\u2019s leveraging the Japanese giant\u2019s new tech effectively.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the base PS5 version will target 60fps at 1080p with low ray tracing settings enabled.<\/p>\n

Other graphical options and presets will be available, including 30fps options which bump up the resolution, regardless of which format you\u2019re on.<\/p>\n

So the core numbers look impressive, then, but the proof is going to be in the pudding.<\/p>\n

The studio seems confident in what it\u2019s built here, and giving full access to Digital Foundry reflects that. Now we wait for the results.<\/p>\n
