Ruben Amorim and Manchester United have three midfield options they could bring to Old Trafford to partner alongside Bruno Fernandes for next season, according to reports.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils have been tipped to sign a new midfielder this summer as part of the Manchester United first-team<\/a> squad rebuild under Ruben Amorim<\/a> at Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Amorim\u2019s options for his United tactical system<\/a> are limited and the 40-year-old Portuguese coach is believed to be keen on securing a new defensive midfielder.<\/p>\n

The United manager<\/a> had to contend with injuries to his midfield last season and Amorim also saw Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen<\/a> leave Old Trafford this summer.<\/p>\n

Bruno Fernandes<\/a> is expected to play deeper for United<\/a> as part of the midfield pivot after the signings of Matheus Cunha<\/a> from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo<\/a> from Brentford.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano explained that Manchester United<\/a> would look at an alternative midfield profile fit after Tottenham signed Joao Palhinha<\/a> on loan.<\/p>\n

United were linked with Joao Palhinha<\/a> and Fabrizio Romano<\/a> said that the Red Devils had \u201cconsidered the opportunity\u201d to land the Bayern Munich midfielder this summer.<\/p>\n

However, TEAMtalk<\/a> now reports that United have \u2018alternative\u2019 options to Bayern loanee Palhinha and the Red Devils have \u2018three names under consideration.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ederson has been subject to United\u2019s transfer interest<\/a> in recent months and the 26-year-old Atalanta defensive midfielder is one option that the Red Devils could explore.<\/p>\n

The Brazil international is under contract until 2027 and Serie A outfit Atalanta are reportedly demanding a fee around \u00a363m before they let United-linked Ederson leave the club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Joining Ederson<\/a> on the alternative choices that United could pursue is Douglas Luiz<\/a>, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Serie A outfit Juventus.<\/p>\n

Juventus are reportedly holding out for a \u00a340m asking price for Everton-linked Douglas Luiz<\/a> and the Old Lady are ready to cash in on the former Aston Villa star.<\/p>\n

Despite United\u2019s interest in both Atalanta\u2019s Ederson and Juventus\u2019 Luiz, it is believed that Ruben Amorim is keen for a reunion with Sporting CP skipper Morten Hjulmand<\/a>.<\/p>\n

TEAMtalk reports that Ederson, Luiz and Morten Hjulmand are all on United\u2019s \u2018shortlist,\u2019 but the Sporting and Denmark midfielder is Amorim\u2019s \u2018top choice.\u2019<\/p>\n
