Manchester United believe internally that Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson would be tempted to join them, despite interest from Manchester City, according to ESPN.

Anderson has quickly developed into one of the most exciting up-and-coming midfielders in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons, and he’s even started making moves internationally.

The Nottingham Forest star is likely to be a key figure at the World Cup with England in a few months, and his performances have turned the heads of multiple clubs in the Premier League.

Manchester City and United have both been credited with an interest in the England international, and it could be a competitive race for his signature later this year.

Man Utd and Man City: Elliot Anderson Race

"Elliot

According to a report from ESPN, Manchester United believe Elliot Anderson would be open to joining them in the summer transfer window, despite interest from their rivals Manchester City.

Anderson is believed to be United’s top target for the midfield position later this year, with the likes of Jason Wilcox hoping to secure his signature.

Anderson, who has been described as ‘elite’ by Thomas Tuchel, would likely come in and become a guaranteed starter at Old Trafford, whereas it might be a little trickier for him, hence the potential preference to join the Red Devils.

Man Utd Need Anderson and Another

"Manchester

With Casemiro heading through the exit door in the summer, United should be looking to add more than one midfielder when the summer transfer window opens.

The Red Devils’ lack of quality depth has shown this season, having to deploy academy stars at times, while Manuel Ugarte is a player that they might not be relying upon for much longer.

The Uruguayan midfielder has struggled since his arrival and has been forced to get used to mostly substitute appearances this season.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see both Casemiro and Ugarte leave the club later this year, meaning we should see Anderson plus another make their way through the door.

Manchester United

Energetic box-to-box No.8 in a transition-heavy midfield.

Pressing intensity and ball carrying suit a vertical system.

Could complement a deeper midfielder by progressing play through carries.

Greater chance of regular minutes and development.

Manchester City

Would likely play as a possession-focused No.8.

Technical security suits Pep Guardiola’s positional play.

However, competition and tactical demands are higher.

Overall

Better tactical fit and pathway: Manchester United.

Higher technical ceiling environment: Manchester City.

Manchester United believe internally that Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson would be tempted to join them, despite interest…

[33
218,101,56,54,55
post-474768","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-football","tag-football","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
