He said the rankings have been manipulated in a way that keeps Floyd outside immediate title contention, which, in his view, protects certain champions from dangerous challengers.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re not even ranked in the WBO, because they\u2019re trying to protect him,\u201d Schofield Sr. said. \u201cWe\u2019re not even ranked in the top 10 in the WBO. With the WBC, we\u2019re not ranked there. We\u2019re ranked #17 because they were trying to protect Shakur. That\u2019s how political these things are.\u201d<\/p>\n The elder Schofield added that his team is not waiting for voluntary opportunities and will continue pushing forward until a mandatory position forces a title fight.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re going to keep fighting until a belt is mandated,\u201d he said. \u201cSo we\u2019re not worried about them no more. We\u2019re going to make our money.\u201d<\/p>\n The comments reflect a familiar strategy in boxing, where camps often apply public pressure when a matchup has not materialized.
