Reid has three sons, Sam, Finn and Jack, all in their early 20s, from a long relationship with former partner Dominic Cotton. Balls and Cooper have two daughters, Ellie and Maddy, and a son, Joel, also in their 20s.<\/p>\n<p>All the children fit into the age range for Gen Z. Do Reid and Balls think the stereotypes for that generation \u2013 chronically online, militant about work-life balance, woke yet unplugged from mainstream politics \u2013 are accurate? \u201cI don\u2019t know about stereotypes,\u201d Reid says. \u201cI mean, I definitely am guilty of being obsessed with my phone, lost in an algorithm, having to battle against a phone addiction, and being sucked into seeing certain things. So I sympathise with anyone who feels like that. That is a problem. But I think that\u2019s something that crosses generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say engagement with current affairs amongst that generation is high,\u201d Balls adds. \u201cThey\u2019re really interested in the world, and they\u2019re worried about the world\u2026 and there are certain subjects where, I think [my children] are always slightly worried that I\u2019m going to say the wrong thing, and they\u2019re probably right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re also a generation facing new uncertainties, he notes, such as how confident they can be of not being conscripted to fight in a war. \u201cThere\u2019s a question mark and a worry, and I think the third thing,\u201d he adds, \u201cis it\u2019s hard for that <a class=\"ck-custom-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2025\/08\/05\/forget-gen-z-young-generation-jobless\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">generation in terms of jobs and wages<\/a> and the housing market and having a fair chance to have a go in life\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Both are very private about their children\u2019s lives; Reid extends that to her romantic life, although she was compelled by Morgan to admit to her relationship with Steve Parish, Crystal Palace chairman, back in 2018, which ended the following year, with Reid telling Morgan on air, \u201cLet\u2019s not dwell. I\u2019m fine, we\u2019re fine, we\u2019re very good friends\u201d and insisting she would never marry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Neither has to worry about the school run any more.
