{"id":476513,"date":"2026-03-15T06:39:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T06:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/476513\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T06:39:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T06:39:14","slug":"sam-altman-is-under-fire-from-critics-again-for-disgusting-ai-remarks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/476513\/","title":{"rendered":"Sam Altman is under fire from critics again for \u2018disgusting\u2019 AI remarks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was only last month that <a href=\"http:\/\/indy100.com\/topic\/openai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">OpenAI<\/a>\u2019s Sam Altman found himself in hot water over remarks about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indy100.com\/science-tech\/sam-altman-ai-chatgpt-water-energy-consumption\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ChatGPT\u2019s energy consumption<\/a>, but now, at the BlackRock US Infrastructure Summit in Washington, DC on Wednesday, the entrepreneur has come under fire for comments about intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>In conversation with OpenAI board member and Global Infrastructure Partners CEO Adebayo Ogunlesi, <a href=\"http:\/\/indy100.com\/topic\/sam-altman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Altman<\/a> said: \u201cFundamentally, our business and the business of every other model provider, is going to look like selling tokens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey may come from bigger or smaller models, which makes them more or less expensive. They may use more or less reasoning, which also makes them more or less expensive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey may be running all the time in the background trying to help you out. They may run only when you need them, when you pay less.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey may work super hard, spend tens of millions, hundreds of millions, someday billions of dollars on a single problem that\u2019s really valuable. But we see a future where intelligence is a utility \u2013 like electricity or water \u2013 and people buy it from us, on a meter, and use it for whatever they want to use it for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The businessman\u2019s comments have since been branded \u201cabsolutely disgusting\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>Researcher Melissa Dykes tweeted her own made-up version of Altman\u2019s remarks and said: \u201c\u2019We stole all your knowledge and art, and now we\u2019re gonna put a meter on it and sell it back to you.
