The first of them was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/series\/england-marylebone-cricket-club-tour-of-south-africa-1948-49-61696\/south-africa-vs-england-1st-test-62695\/full-scorecard\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in Durban<\/a> in 1948 and the last was at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/series\/south-africa-tour-of-england-1951-61813\/england-vs-south-africa-5th-test-62724\/full-scorecard\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Oval<\/a> in 1951, which was the final international game for both of them. Eric, the elder one, had made his debut in 1935 and was primarily an opener, scoring 1965 runs with three hundreds in 26 matches.
