(Image credit: Emil Andronic)<\/p>\n<p id=\"f73ae083-b111-4276-b526-f5a50509f834\">Astrophotographer Emil Andronic spent nearly 70 hours capturing the light of a beguiling reflection nebula near the head of the hunter in the constellation Orion, revealing impressive detail in the structure of the interstellar cloud as it glowed over the UK in late 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Andronic&#8217;s image reveals the blue reflection <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nebula-definition-types\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nebula-definition-types\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nebula-definition-types\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">nebula<\/a> designated Cederblad 51 glowing in the center of the image among the red clouds of the giant nebula SH 2-264. The region is also known as Orion&#8217;s Head, owing to its proximity to the bright star Lambda Orionis, which represents the head of the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16659-constellation-orion.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16659-constellation-orion.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16659-constellation-orion.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">celestial hunter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"f73ae083-b111-4276-b526-f5a50509f834-2\">Reflection nebulas are vast clouds of interstellar dust, that shine by scattering the blue light of nearby stars, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/universe\/decoding-nebulae\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/universe\/decoding-nebulae\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to NASA<\/a>. Emission nebulas, meanwhile, glow with their own light, having been altered by the radiation of nearby stars.<\/p>\n<p>Article continues below <\/p>\n<p>            You may like<\/p>\n<p id=\"dcbbb372-f3ca-4665-bb3d-167128987b3e\">&#8220;Ced 51 is a target that I wanted to capture for a very long time, but most of the time the conditions weren&#8217;t that great and every time I ended up shooting something else,&#8221; Andronic told Space.com in an email.<\/p>\n<p>Andronic captured the nebula using a pair of 8-inch (200 mm) telescopes fitted with a series of specialized red, green blue and H-alpha filters and cooled <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16014-astronomy.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16014-astronomy.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16014-astronomy.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">astronomy<\/a> cameras.
