The Houston Texans<\/a> have a new running back for C.J. Stroud in the form of David Montgomery.<\/p>\n

Having seen his touches limited due to the emergence of Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit, Montgomery decided it was best to move on.<\/p>\n

Now he lands in Houston with a reputation of being a battering ram of a running back. His tough, physical running style makes him a nightmare to tackle. Especially as the game gets into the second half.<\/p>\n

But David wants to make one thing clear to those who think he is only a bruiser of a back.<\/p>\n

There are more arrows in his quiver than just that.<\/p>\n

“As much as them saying I’m a power back — I hear that a lot — but I can do a lot of stuff that power backs don’t do,” Montgomery said via\u00a0the Houston Chronicle<\/a>. “I’m not going to talk too much about it. I’m more of a show than a tell kind of guy.<\/p>\n

“I’m not going to say what I can or will do, I’m just going to show it.”<\/p>\n

Montgomery gets starting chance in Houston<\/p>\n

Having had to play second-fiddle to Gibbs in Detroit, as the young back has become one of the best in football, Montgomery hasn’t been a bona fide starter for a while.<\/p>\n

But in Houston, he gets that chance.<\/p>\n

Having started at least 13 games in each season from 2020 to 2024, last season, David didn’t start a single game.<\/p>\n

That will likely change with the Texans as he gets his chance to fully showcase his talents without being in Gibbs’ shadow.<\/p>\n

And he’s hell-bent on showing the world he is far more than just a power back.<\/p>\n
