Arne Slot has sent out a defiant message for Liverpool supporters to expect a better performance when Galatasaray come to Anfield on Wednesday.

The Reds put in yet another limp display on Sunday as they conceded late on to draw against Tottenham.

Some Liverpool supporters booed at full-time, having witnessed one more scandalously bad showing from their team. Few will now be expecting the Reds to overturn their 1-0 deficit and make it past Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Who was Liverpool’s best player on another poor day at Anfield?

Not many to choose from…

But according to Slot, he and the Liverpool squad will aim to channel their frustration into putting in a better performance in midweek.

Slot expecting better performance vs Galatasaray

Slot was asked about the boos that rang around Anfield at full-time during his post-match press conference.

The Dutchman was gracious towards the Liverpool fans, admitting that he too is frustrated by the way things continue to go for him this season.

“It’s up to us to bring that frustration into Wednesday and come up with a big performance, because we are all frustrated, that’s completely clear,” Slot said.

“It’s now up to me and the players to take that frustration to Wednesday evening and to show the fans the performance and the result they deserve, because they’ve been supportive throughout the whole season for us.

“If it happens so many times that they are frustrated at the end of the game or after the final whistle, that makes complete sense to me.”

Can Liverpool turn the tie around?

As it has been far too often this season, the frustration was not just in the result on Sunday, but in the toothless nature of the performance.

Liverpool need to win by two goals to progress on Wednesday, and having been wasteful in front of goal once again versus Tottenham, fans will be sceptical whether this team can do that.

His legs look like they’ve gone! Who should replace him?

Gala gave them more than a chance in the first leg, though, and so it does feel likely that Liverpool will have their opportunities. They simply need to take them.

As for a response from the team, as Slot is seemingly promising, supporters have just heard that far too many times this season to little or no avail.

The Reds have had so many times where they could bounce back or take frustration from a poor result into the next game, but they have rarely shown the necessary fight when coming out the other end.

Galatasaray will be absolutely up for the fight, and while the Turks’ lack of fans inside Anfield could be a factor on the night, if Liverpool do not give those in the stands something to shout about, it could quickly turn into another evening to forget.
