{"id":478622,"date":"2026-03-16T13:06:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T13:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/478622\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T13:06:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T13:06:20","slug":"mould-found-at-qeuh-hospital-in-glasgow-says-health-secretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/478622\/","title":{"rendered":"Mould found at QEUH hospital in Glasgow, says health secretary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Gray responded that he had visited the QEUH last Wednesday and safety mitigations were being taken by staff while the ward continues to be used.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He said: &#8220;There are rooms that are closed in order to manage safety and to take a risk-averse approach and to ensure, as Meghan Gallacher rightly says, that the risks are being managed given the immunosuppressed patients with clinically-driven medications.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c3edl0vnwn0o\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced a new oversight group<\/a> to boost public confidence in the safety of the QEUH.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A spokesperson for the health board said: &#8220;We have an active Incident Management Team (IMT) looking into ward 4B.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;As part of our ongoing environmental screening, repeated sampling of affected rooms is undertaken. Patient safety is the priority.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;A potential mould has been identified from a single swab from the wash-hand basin in room 85.
