A body has been recovered by police in a four-month search after a car was seen entering the River Trent.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was located between Sandringham Avenue and County Hall, West Bridgford<\/a>, at about 3.30pm on Sunday (March 15).<\/p>\n

Officers have confirmed the car is the same vehicle which entered the river near Wilford Suspension Bridge on November 15<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A man\u2019s body, believed to be the registered keeper of the vehicle, was found inside the car on Monday (March 16) and has been recovered from the water by police<\/a> divers.<\/p>\n

Searches of the river have been taking place since November <\/a>with the support of Humberside Police and a specialist Home Office unit.<\/p>\n

The missing vehicle was identified on Sunday after an additional search by a specialist charity.<\/p>\n

Detective Sergeant Millie Gillett said: \u201cOur thoughts are with this man\u2019s family and they have been updated and offered support.<\/p>\n

“While our investigation into what happened continues, we don’t believe his death to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnderwater search teams have worked hard in their efforts to locate the car and any possible occupants since the investigation was launched.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, these efforts have been hampered by high river levels and heavy rainfall. Detectives have also been working to establish what exactly led to the vehicle going into the water.<\/p>\n
