Noel Gallagher once outlined the difference in vocal styles between him and his brother Liam Gallagher,<\/a> by stating, \u201cIf songs were drinks \u2013 Liam\u2019s is a shot of tequila, and mine\u2019s half a Guinness\u2026 Mine\u2019s half a Guinness on a Tuesday\u2026 Liam\u2019s is ten shots of tequila on a fucking Friday night.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not only best placed to make that judgement on the basis that he knows his brother better than anyone. But because between the pair of them, they have seen more Tuesday night Guinness\u2019 and Friday night tequilas than maybe anyone in history. <\/p>\n

During the heyday of British tabloid culture, the Gallagher name could be found smeared over the front of any given red top paper, uncovering yet another tale of drunken debauchery<\/a>. Whether it was getting kicked off a ferry, fighting each other with cricket bats or almost grounding a flight to a halt, the pair enjoyed the last remaining dregs of rock and roll hedonism that the 1990s allowed. <\/p>\n

Despite the globetrotting nature of their behaviour, the pair never neglected their roots and ensured they used their positions as rock stars to enjoy a classic British night out. Liam Gallagher once proudly claimed that he was \u201ca sucker for a pub\u201d, which meant that he was, by proxy, a sucker for a late-night feed. Because what is a British night out<\/a>, if not bookended with some sort of anglicised foreign cuisine?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stumbling into our local fast food joint, we layer on one last helping of calories, usually in the form of a kebab or curry. Now, I don\u2019t know Liam Gallagher on a personal level, but I think I can make a judgment as to what he would order based on three different reasons. <\/p>\n

The first is his fiery public reputation, the second is his brother\u2019s description of what his voice sounds like, and the last is a quote he gave regarding one of his lesser-known songs. It was upon hearing his description of said tune that I confidently realised that if I were to see the grumbling frontman in a late-night establishment, he would have a blazing hot curry under his arm. <\/p>\n

Speaking of his 2017 solo effort<\/a> \u2018Greedy Soul\u2019, he claimed, \u201cIt\u2019s got power and energy, it\u2019s aggressive, it\u2019s a good vibe.\u201d <\/p>\n

He then continued, harnessing the power of a spicy curry, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s like having a vindaloo. When you\u2019re singing it, you\u2019re sweating \u2013 it\u2019s like having a really hot curry. You know when you have hot curry, and you go, \u2018It\u2019s fucking mad this, but it\u2019s good \u2018cos you\u2019re sweating your tits off.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The magic of Liam Gallagher can be wholly captured in that one quote. It\u2019s a truly bizarre yet perfectly described analogy. I absolutely understand what Gallagher refers to when he described the transcendent madness of battling a curry, and it only goes to heighten my understanding of the otherwise forgettable rock song. <\/p>\n

He is the beloved everyman of rock and roll, who\u2019s climbed the very top of the musical mountain and peaked behind the glittering curtains of fame.
