Ellis made a return for season 2 earlier this month<\/a>, featuring a host of guest stars alongside the main cast.<\/p>\n The Channel 5 drama, which trails DCI Ellis and DS Harper as they solve cases across the north of England<\/a>, made its reappearance on Tuesday, March 10.<\/p>\n Sharon D Clarke, renowned for Mr Loverman, Showtrial, Lost Boys and Fairies, and Rocketman, reprised her role as DCI Ellis, alongside Andrew Gower, who viewers will recognise from The Winter King, Carnival Row, and Outlander, returning as her partner, DS Harper. Also making a comeback for season two is Leonard and Hungry Paul star Charlotte McCurry in the role of DC Kate Trent and Allison Harding ACC Alison Leighton.<\/p>\n The second season has already seen Sharon and Andrew joined by a number of guest stars, including Poldark’s John Hollingworth and Hollyoaks actress Niamh Blackshaw for the first and second episodes.<\/p>\n In the third and fourth episodes, the team will be joined by Game of Thrones and Trollied star Mark Addy, Coronation Street’s Matilda Freeman, DCI Banks actor Stephen Tompkinson, and EastEnders star Sophie Stanton<\/p>\n A synopsis for Elmsly reads: “The village of Elmsly is shaken when university student Abi Marshall is found crushed beneath fallen scaffolding at Quinn Artisan Stone – a construction firm and the area’s economic powerhouse. Bright, ambitious and well-liked, her sudden death sends shockwaves through the community. Owner Elliot Quinn calls it a tragic accident, eager to shield his business from bad press, but Ellis isn’t convinced. Film credits include The Full Monty, Downton Abbey, and The Lost King.<\/p>\n Matilda Freeman plays Mackenzie Quinn<\/p>\n Matilda is most recognised for playing Summer Spellman on Coronation Street between 2017 and 2020.
