In 2024, it was announced that the Miramax label at Paramount, which is now operating under new boss Jonathan Glickman, had given the greenlight to a new\u00a0Scary Movie\u00a0sequel (Scary Movie 6, to be exact), with the plan being to get the film into theatres sometime in\u00a02025.\u00a0Well, they weren\u2019t able to get the film into production as quickly as they hoped, but\u00a0Scary Movie 6\u00a0is scheduled to reach theatres on\u00a0June 5, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With that date just a few months away, a trailer recently dropped online to give us a preview of scenes that parody recent\u00a0Scream\u00a0sequels,\u00a0Terrifier 3, Sinners, Get Out,\u00a0and more.\u00a0Acknowledging the fact that Sinners took home <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/the-98th-academy-awards-winners\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">some Oscar gold<\/a> on Sunday night, a new teaser has been unveiled to show off more of the movie\u2019s Sinners parody scene. You can check it out in the embed above.<\/p>\n<p>Cast<\/p>\n<p>The Wayans Brothers wrote the screenplay for the new film with Rick Alvarez, who has previously worked with members of the family on multiple projects, including\u00a0A Haunted House, A Haunted House 2, Fifty Shades of Black, Naked, Sextuplets, Dance Flick, Little Man, White Chicks,\u00a0and\u00a0Scary Movie 2, among other things.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Michael Tiddes, who was the helm of the\u00a0Haunted House\u00a0movies,\u00a0Fifty Shades of Black,\u00a0Naked, and\u00a0Sextuplets\u00a0(and don\u2019t forget\u00a0Half Baked: Totally High),\u00a0Scary Movie 6\u00a0stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall, reprising the roles of Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks.<\/p>\n<p>Other returning cast members include Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans,\u00a0Lochlyn Monroe, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams. Newcomers include Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Heidi Gardner, and Benny Zielke.<\/p>\n<p>Sleepaway Camp\u2018s Felissa Rose and\u00a0Terrifier\u00a0producer\u00a0Michael Leavy are featured in the\u00a0Terrifier 3\u00a0parody sequence.<\/p>\n<p>Scary Movie\u00a0Refresher<\/p>\n<p>Directed by\u00a0In Living Color\u00a0creator Keenen Ivory Wayans from a screenplay written by a bunch of people (Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Buddy Johnson, Phil Beauman, Jason Friedberg, and Aaron Seltzer), the first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-joblo-reviews\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scary Movie<\/a>\u00a0was released by Dimension Films back in 2000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-2-joblo-reviews\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scary Movie 2<\/a>\u00a0was released in 2001, and the Wayans remained at the head of the creative team for that one. Keenen Ivory Wayans directed it from a screenplay credited to Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Alyson Fouse, Greg Grabianski, Dave Polsky, Michael Anthony Snowden, and Craig Wayans.<\/p>\n<p>There was a shake-up behind the scenes on 2003\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-3-joblo-reviews\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scary Movie 3<\/a>, as Dimension hired\u00a0Airplane\u00a0and\u00a0The Naked Gun\u00a0director David Zucker to take the helm. Zucker directed that film from a screenplay by Craig Mazin and Pat Proft. That trio returned for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/scary-movie-4-joblo-reviews\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scary Movie 4<\/a>\u00a0in 2006, with Jim Abrahams also receiving a writing credit.<\/p>\n<p>Seven years later, Pat Proft and David Zucker came back to write\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/review-scary-movie-5\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scary Movie 5<\/a>, which was directed by\u00a0Undercover Brother\u2018s Malcolm D. Lee.<\/p>\n<p>The first\u00a0Scary Movie\u00a0was made on a budget of $19 million and earned $278 million at the box office, so the budgets increased for most of the sequels.\u00a0Scary Movie 2\u00a0cost $45 million and made $141 million,\u00a0Scary Movie 3\u00a0cost $48 million and made almost $221 million, and\u00a0Scary Movie 4\u00a0was made for $40 million and earned $178 million at the box office. After the lengthy break between movies,\u00a0Scary Movie 5\u00a0got a lower budget, dropping back down to $20 million.
