\n\t\tSteven Gerrard says Bayern Munich are \u2018better equipped\u2019 to win the Champions League this year (TNT Sports)<\/p>\n

Steven Gerrard has named Bayern Munich<\/a> as his \u2018dark horse\u2019 to win the Champions League<\/a> this season.<\/p>\n

Bayern comfortably sealed their place in the Champions League quarter-final with a 10-2 aggregate victory over Atalanta, and Vincent Kompany\u2019s side will now face Real Madrid after they eliminated Manchester City.<\/p>\n

Liverpool, meanwhile, eliminated Galatasaray<\/a> with a 4-0 win at Anfield on Wednesday night and they will meet Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final after their 8-2 aggregate victory over Chelsea.<\/p>\n

On the other side of the Champions League bracket, Barcelona will play Atletico Madrid, while Arsenal, who remain the only unbeaten side in the competition this season, will meet Sporting CP.<\/p>\n

Gerrard, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, believes Real Madrid will eliminate Bayern Munich if they are at their best, but admits he would be unsurprised to see the Bundesliga champions go all the way.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s that stage of the competition where the big hitters, the big players, the big teams, they start flexing their muscles and if you\u2019re not at it you can get scorelines like that where you run away with it,\u2019 Gerrard said on TNT Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think the best version of Real Madrid<\/a> win it, I think they go through, just how they approach the Champions League they seem to find a different level, they turn the heat up like they did against Manchester City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018But Bayern could be the dark horses this year. They\u2019ve got everyone back fit now, Harry Kane<\/a>\u2019s in form, [Vincent] Kompany has got them well drilled, well organised, I think they\u2019re better equipped this season than they have been in the previous four or five.\u2019<\/p>\n

Gerrard, however, has picked Paris Saint-Germain as his standout favourites to win the Champions League for a second season in a row.<\/p>\n

\u2018In terms of Chelsea, they\u2019ve just been beaten by who I think will go on to win the tournament,\u2019 Gerrard said.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think PSG are like the Madrid over the years where when it comes down to the Champions League and the big games, they are able to turn the dial. They focus more on the Champions League than the domestic stuff and they just know when to raise it.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Steve McManaman believes Paris Saint-Germain have yet to hit their peak form despite thumping Chelsea in the last-16 stage to set up their tie with Liverpool next month.<\/p>\n

\u2018They won there last year but they need to play a lot better than they did, they hung on, Harvey Elliott got a last-minute winner, but Liverpool<\/a>, if you remember going back to it, the goalkeeper [Alisson] was outstanding, probably one of the best goalkeeping performances you\u2019ve seen in a while,\u2019 McManaman said.<\/p>\n

\u2018It depends on what PSG turns up. Everyone focuses on what they\u2019ve just done to Chelsea, but if you go back two games they only just knocked out Monaco in the knockout round, they struggled against Newcastle at the Parc des Princes, it was 1-1.<\/p>\n

\u2018So their form hasn\u2019t been as good as last year but it\u2019s whether they are hitting form now, their performances against Chelsea were excellent, they\u2019re an outstanding team and they\u2019re starting to peak at the right time but they\u2019re not as dominant as they were last year, not by far.\u2019<\/p>\n

Gerrard added: \u2018It will be a different game because PSG are obviously a lot better than Galatasaray.<\/p>\n

\u2018Liverpool have to be perfect to go through to the semi-final but you\u2019ve got to remember what happened last year \u2013 everyone be at it, everyone be all in, the fans with you, if Liverpool can find that type of level they\u2019ll give PSG a game over the two legs.\u2019<\/p>\n
