{"id":483538,"date":"2026-03-19T06:19:17","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T06:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/483538\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T06:19:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T06:19:17","slug":"adventure-golf-course-near-oswestry-given-green-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/483538\/","title":{"rendered":"Adventure golf course near Oswestry given green light"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The proposal by David Moore, of Moore Adventure Ltd, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bordercountiesadvertizer.co.uk\/news\/25662495.lion-quays-near-gobowen-looks-expand-adventure-golf\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">will see the new attraction developed on disused car parking land<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bordercountiesadvertizer.co.uk\/news\/25765540.cwmbrans-parkway-hotel-spa-taken-resort-group\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lion Quays<\/a>, near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bordercountiesadvertizer.co.uk\/news\/25942387.car-hgv-crash-b5069-oswestry-gobowen\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gobowen<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The course will be set in a mock Victorian street scene &#8211; the first of its kind in the UK &#8211; and also feature a castle wall, an African house, a wizard&#8217;s house, dinosaurs, and even a waterfall.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It will take around 90 minutes to complete.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The proposal had initially received objections from members of the public concerning car parking and access issues and it not being in keeping.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Meanwhile, Selattyn and Gobowen Parish Council remained neutral on the matter.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Planning officer Melanie Williams said: &#8220;The site is located within the grounds of the Lion Quays, a well-established hotel, spa and leisure destination positioned off the A5 near Oswestry. The area is semi-rural in character with a mix of tourism, commercial uses and open countryside.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Therefore, the principle of developing this site for a tourism\/leisure use is considered acceptable, subject to other relevant material considerations being met.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She added: &#8220;The proposed development is appropriate in its design and scale and it will not have a detrimental impact upon the character and appearance of the surrounding area.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Furthermore, the proposal will not have an adverse impact upon the residential amenities of the neighbouring properties.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The existing disused car park where the course will be built (Image: Google Street View)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Colin Jenno, operations director for LQ Resorts, said the development will provide a boost for the resort.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He added: &#8220;The facility will generate an increase in tourism as it will provide an extra incentive to choose Lion Quays Resort as a destination of choice, which in turn will benefit the surrounding area.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The Lion Quays Resort will see an upturn in expenditure on food and drink as adventure golfers use the catering facilities at the resort as part of their visit.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The course will utilise the existing 400 car parking spaces at the resort, create one part-time job, and would be open seven days a week between 9am and 10pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The proposal by David Moore, of Moore Adventure Ltd, will see the new attraction developed on disused car&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":483539,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[39],"tags":[5904,101,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-483538","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-golf","tag-golf","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/483538","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=483538"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/483538\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/483539"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=483538"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=483538"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=483538"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
