Plans for a Spice Girls<\/a> reunion to mark their 30th anniversary this year have been cancelled. Melanie C, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Victoria Beckham<\/a> were believed to be reuniting<\/a> to celebrate three decades since the release of their first hit, Wannabe.<\/p>\n

But in a radio interview this week, Mel C said: \u201cNo, there is no reunion. We are communicating all the time. We want to do something – who knows when.”<\/p>\n

She told Australia<\/a>\u2019s KIIS Radio: \u201cBut I still feel very optimistic and I keep my fingers crossed that you will see the Spice Girls together at some point in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news will come as a massive blow for fans \u2013 Mel C said the group were discussing the reunion as recently as January. And last April, The Sun reported how Geri was in talks with the group\u2019s former manager, Simon Fuller, and had jetted off to Miami to discuss a deal.<\/p>\n

Even Victoria \u2013 who was absent for the last reunion \u2013 sparked rumours she might return, saying she \u201cloves\u201d the idea of a Las Vegas residence at Sphere and it would be \u201ctempting\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking on US radio station Sirius XM, she said: \u201cIt would be tempting. But could I take on a world <\/a>tour? No I can\u2019t. I have a job\u2026 How good would the Spice Girls be at the Sphere! I love the idea of it. I mean I don\u2019t know if I could even still sing, I mean I was never that great!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Spice Girls haven\u2019t performed in the US since 2008, and Victoria hasn\u2019t taken the stage with the group since the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony. She notably sat out the group\u2019s 2019 UK stadium tour, which saw Geri Halliwell-Horner, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Melanie C perform as a four-piece to sold-out crowds.<\/p>\n

With 2026 being a big year for the band, fans were hopeful that all five original members would come together again. Melanie C has also kept the reunion hopes alive. Speaking to Radio 2, she said, \u201cI would love that. I ask the nation to manifest that happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, she revealed that discussions are underway \u2013 but admitted not everyone is fully on board just yet. \u201cNext year is a big year for us and we have to acknowledge it in some way,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we are talking about what that\u2019s going to look like and for me, Melanie, I know for sure, and Emma, we\u2019d be back on stage. But sometimes other people need a little bit more convincing.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for a full five-member reunion, she added: \u201cIt would be the best thing ever, ever, ever. And sometimes it feels like a duty to the world<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

But it seems any plans for a reunion have now fallen apart, as well as plans for a Netflix<\/a> drama based on the group. Mel B has been noticeably absent from group events \u2013 she wasn\u2019t at Emma\u2019s 50th birthday celebrations in January, nor was she at Victoria\u2019s home as the rest of the band met up for a catch up in February. She also skipped the premiere of Posh\u2019s Netflix series in October.<\/p>\n
