Coronation Street<\/a> star Sydney Martin has left fans ‘gobsmacked’ as she shared her hidden talent on social media, a year after her TV debut.<\/p>\n

The actress’ big break came last summer when she appeared in the ITV<\/a> soap for the first time in the new role of Betsy Swain.<\/p>\n

The teenage character made her first appearance in Weatherfield last summer, popping up simply as Sabrina Adetiba’s mate before it was revealed that she is an established character, DS Lisa Swain’s daughter, whom she shares with her late partner, Becky.<\/p>\n

It marked Sydney’s big break and she recently marked a whole year in the role and shared a sweet message on social media. In a photo shared to her Instagram page, she could be seen beaming for the camera as she held onto a cake with a ‘1’ candle burning on the top.<\/p>\n

Alongside the post shared back in June, the 23-year-old soap star gushed: “1 whole year of Betsy Swain. So incredibly lucky & grateful. I [love] my job.”<\/p>\n

Sydney is often sharing updates with fans on social media, as well as given them glimpses of herself away from her on-screen role. It was in a recent TikTok video that the soap star was seen showing off her singing voice.<\/p>\n

“I’m an actor, not a singer, but I’m home alone and just want to have some fun so please be kind,” she kicked off the video before performing her own rendition of the James Arthur track, Say You Won’t Let Go.<\/p>\n

And the compliments quickly came flooding in. Corrie co-star Cait Fitton, who plays Weatherfield’s Lauren Bolton, said: “She\u2019s a talented girlie!! Wow I\u2019m so proud of you,” while Joanie Michaelis star Savanna Pennington wrote: “You are so talented you have such a good voice. Keep going queen.”<\/p>\n

A fan commented: “Forget being \u2018just an actor\u2019 girl you\u2019re an actor AND a singer, your voice is absolutely beautiful!” Another shared: “You\u2019re so talented, your so good syd, so proud of you!!!!”<\/p>\n

A third fan posted: “\u2018I\u2019m not a singer\u2019 and then sings so beautifully. Girl have more faith in yourself!! Your voice is stunning.” A fourth gushed: “Stop I’m sobbing. Your voice is gorgeous Syd!!!” Another typed: “gobsmacked this is beautiful, your so talented!” A viewer added: “So beautiful. I got goosebumps listening to you.”<\/p>\n

It come after Sydney had been seen teasing fans as she shared an update on her character as a moment left fans ‘annoyed’<\/a> during her on-screen mum and step-mum’s big house move.<\/p>\n

In video unrelated to her Corrie role on TikTok, Sydney was quick to respond to a fan who said: “Please tell us you get more screen time soon on the cobbles. definitely miss sassy betsy.”<\/p>\n
