Greta Gerwig has made the first public comments on her upcoming Narnia film since May 2024<\/a> at a Netflix press event on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Next on Netflix\u2019 event in Hollywood was hosted by Netflix film chairman Dan Lin and chief content officer Bela Bajaria, and introduced Netflix\u2019s upcoming film and TV slate for the year ahead. <\/p>\n

According to reporting by the Los Angeles Times<\/a>, Narnia director Greta Gerwig also appeared via video message to talk about her film:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all very under wraps right now, but it\u2019s something that I\u2019m just so thrilled about because it was the book of my childhood. It was the book series that I loved, and I lived through, and I spent so much time imagining myself inside of Narnia \u2026 It\u2019s been a joy and an honor to be the person who gets to imagine this universe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chief content officer Bela Bajaria also shared<\/a> that, \u201cI don\u2019t think there is a bigger fan of that book series than Greta.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerwig\u2019s reverential praise for the book series echoes similar comments<\/a> she made earlier in the production process, but perhaps stands in stark contrast to those made by other members of the senior producing team over the past year.<\/p>\n

During Netflix\u2019s presentation, Head of Film Dan Lin apparently described the film as a \u201cRock and roll\u201d<\/a> take, according to reporting from the event by Variety\u2019s senior entertainment writer Matthew Donnelly<\/a>. This echoes producer Amy Pascal\u2019s earlier comment about Greta Gerwig\u2019s adaptation being \u201call about rock and roll.\u201d<\/p>\n
