Julia Roberts<\/a> made a surprise appearance on Comic Relief<\/a> during a cameo-filled Red Nose Day film.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The annual charity telethon returned on Friday with a host of celebrities joining in on the fun with a series of sketches for\u00a0Take Yourself Funny for Money.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hollywood actress Julia, 58, starred as part of the charity fundraiser, hosted at MediaCity in Salford, in\u00a0Catherine Tate<\/a>‘s sketch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Addressing hosts Davina McCall<\/a> and Joel Dommett<\/a>, Catherine appeared on stage as her character,\u00a0foul-mouthed Nan, and informed the audience that she had invited the ‘big stars,’ before a series of A-listers appeared on screen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking in a video, Julia said: ‘Thank you so much nan for your kind offer, I would love to appear on Red Nose Day, I’ll be there in a jiffy!’<\/p>\n

The actress was joined by a host of special guests including\u00a0Sir Ian McKellen<\/a>, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson and Gordon Ramsay<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And it didn’t stop there, with Vanessa Williams, Rio Ferdinand, Dame Anna Wintour, Jack Whitehall, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Lord Alan Sugar, Olivia Dean, and Daniel Craig also featuring on the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It’s not the first time Julia has appeared as part of the charity fundraiser as she also joined in\u00a0via video link back in 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Money raised by Red Nose Day goes towards organisations helping to tackle homelessness, poverty and mental health along with other causes in the UK and throughout the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day\u00a0Greg James<\/a> screamed with joy as he learned he has raised \u00a32.8million for his Comic Relief bike challenge – just miles from the finish line in Edinburgh<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Radio 1 Breakfast DJ, 40, is cycling 1000km in eight days on a tandem bicycle, and has been surprised by family and friends along the way, including Prince William\u00a0earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Greg set off from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders on Friday morning for his final day of cycling and started the day with a total amount raised of \u00a32.5million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just over an hour later, Greg took a break from cycling for a pit stop in North Middleton, Midlothian – just 16 miles from his final destination of Edinburgh.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the pit stop, Greg spoke to radio host Matt Edmonson, who revealed the total money he has raised had jumped up to \u00a32,823,694.<\/p>\n

‘2.8 million!! YESSS!’ Greg screamed, before adding: ‘Wow. We’re really moving! It is stupid now. But that’s fun. Silly things are fun aren’t they?\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Let’s keep doing this silly thing and let’s get it up to three. Do it for Arthur. Do it for Arthur and his big seat.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the clip, Greg said: ‘I’ve asked for a silly total yo hand over to Comic Relief at the end of today. What are we on right now? Let’s go.’<\/p>\n

‘Okay so when we last had a total it was \u00a32.5million, which is crazy,’ Matt said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Matt then added: ‘We’ve only been on air for an hour and eight minutes. So let’s find out what the new total is…’<\/p>\n
