Open, but came up short in the fourth round.<\/p>\n<p>The world number two had last been seen in action at Wimbledon, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/opinion\/coco-gauffs-biggest-problem-has-become-clear-once-again-after-her-shock-wimbledon-loss-to-dayana-yastremska\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gauff lost to Dayana Yastremska<\/a> in the first round.<\/p>\n<p>Returning to the court in Montreal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/coco-gauff-shares-what-danielle-collins-has-always-treated-her-like-on-the-wta-tour-since-she-broke-through\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gauff took down Danielle Collins<\/a> in her opening match to set up a third-round tie with Veronika Kudermetova.<\/p>\n<p>Battling back from a set down, Gauff defeated the Russian to qualify for the last 16 of the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/canadian-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canadian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2227196429-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Coco Gauff looks on as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/the-wta-faces-strong-criticism-after-victoria-mboko-beats-coco-gauff-in-big-upset-in-canada\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gauff fell to Victoria Mboko<\/a> in straight sets, 1-6, 4-6.<\/p>\n<p>Unsuccessful in the singles, the 21-year-old has had a better time of things in the doubles, where she has just accomplished something for the first time in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Coco Gauff qualifies for her first doubles final of the year in Montreal<\/p>\n<p>Partnering up with her fellow American, McCartney Kessler, Gauff has made her way Krejcikova and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jelena-ostapenko\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jelena Ostapenko<\/a> was no doubt the best of the bunch, as the American duo took down the experienced doubles stars in a deciding-set tiebreak [10-7].<\/p>\n<p>They then advanced to take on Olga Danilovic and Hsieh Su-Wei in the semis, where they emerged victorious in a match tiebreak once more.<\/p>\n<p>Gauff and Kessler will play the number three seeds, Taylor Townsend and Zhang Shuai, in the final, who won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/washington-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Open<\/a> together last time out.<\/p>\n<p>Placing more of a focus on her singles career over recent years, Gauff hadn\u2019t qualified for a doubles final on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA Tour<\/a> since June 2024.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not to say she isn\u2019t an outstanding doubles player, as the American is a former Grand Slam champion in the discipline.<\/p>\n<p><img href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/coco-gauff-explains-what-she-finds-really-weird-about-what-happens-to-her-serve-when-playing-doubles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gauff questioned why she serves better in doubles<\/a> than she does in singles, having posted some seriously impressive numbers in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>Looking to win her fourth WTA 1000 title in doubles, Gauff will be determined to lift the trophy alongside Kessler on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Coco Gauff\u2019s record in doubles<\/p>\n<p>During her career, Gauff has contested 15 doubles finals, with five different partners.<\/p>\n<p>Emerging victorious in nine of those finals, Gauff established herself as one of the best doubles players in the women\u2019s
