We love and highly recommend<\/a> Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024<\/a> as it is, but there\u2019s no doubt its PSVR2<\/a> mode will make it better.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just the perfect fit, isn\u2019t it? Yes, sitting in the cockpit is awesome when you\u2019re looking through the window of your 4K television screen \u2013 but we all want to be there, don\u2019t we? Flying over New York City or Tokyo or Madrid.<\/p>\n

The good news is that the flight sim is getting a virtual reality update for Sony\u2019s system, and it\u2019s coming soon. The official word from Microsoft is \u201cearly this year\u201d, but we still don\u2019t have a precise date.<\/p>\n

A PS Blog<\/a> post about the functionality does reveal more about what we can expect, though. In it, dev Asobo Studio reveals it used Gran Turismo 7\u2019s<\/a> unbelievable implementation as inspiration.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also chat about how the game\u2019s been optimised for PSVR2. Every cockpit has been tuned for Sony\u2019s headset, as they obviously all have different knobs, switches, and instruments for you to interact with.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, foveated rendering has been incorporated to help optimise the release\u2019s performance for virtual reality.<\/p>\n

For those who don\u2019t know, foveated rendering works by focusing the PS5\u2019s computational power on the parts of the screen you\u2019re looking at. Because everything else appears in your peripheral vision, it doesn\u2019t need to be rendered at the highest possible resolution, saving resources for elsewhere.<\/p>\n

All in all, this sounds absolutely amazing. PSVR2 may sometimes feel like the forgotten piece of the PS5 era, but when it sings it delivers something truly transformative, and we have unbelievably high hopes for this.<\/p>\n
