Canada\u2019s largest communications company will be the next owner of\u00a0Kirkland-based\u00a0Ziply\u00a0Fiber Northwest, which services the Tri-Cities.<\/p>\n
An administrative law judge for the state\u2019s\u00a0Utilities and Transportation Commission approved Bell Canada\u2019s acquisition of the fiber\u00a0and broadband\u00a0Internet provider\u00a0on July 28, according to a release.\u00a0The\u00a0$3.65 billion\u00a0deal should be completed before the end of the year,\u00a0roughly a\u00a0year after the company\u2019s announced it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, approved the deal in mid-July.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ziply\u2019s\u00a0customers\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0see\u00a0any changes in their services or monthly bills for at least a year as part of the deal. Other elements of the settlement for the acquisition include\u00a0Ziply\u00a0continuing to provide broadband to Washington residents,\u00a0maintain\u00a0its networks, provide service quality credits automatically to customers who experience outages of certain lengths and make other reports to the state commission.\u00a0<\/p>\n
