People trying to get to and from Manchester city centre are facing disruption amid two major projects. Piccadilly railway station is closed to services from the south and east this morning (March 22).

Only platforms 13 and 14 are open this morning, with a reduced timetable for services to Liverpool Lime Street via Eccles and Earlestown, Blackpool North via Bolton, and Chester via Earlestown. It follows the major closure which was in place at Piccadilly from February 14 to 22.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says today’s disruption is to allow last month’s ‘essential works’ to be completed. Piccadilly station is expected to fully open at around 1pm, with services resuming as normal.

Some rail replacement buses are running between Stockport and Piccadilly this morning. Passengers are being urged to check the latest situation with their planned journeys before travelling.

Metrolink trams are continuing to run as normal at Piccadilly this morning. However, another Metrolink line is closed entirely today.

No services are running between Victoria and Rochdale town centre, via Oldham, for the duration of the day. TfGM says the closure is to allow improvement works on the Rochdale line.

Services are running between East Didsbury and Exchange Square, while a bus replacement service is in use between Victoria and Rochdale. Trams will resume as normal tomorrow morning (Monday), according to TfGM.

Passengers are facing major disruption More work is taking place at Piccadilly following last month’s disruption(Image: Network Rail)…

[5
84,59,3774,2438,16941,2437,981,19827,56,54,55
post-489435","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-business","tag-business","tag-gb","tag-metrolink","tag-oldham","tag-piccadilly-train-station","tag-rochdale","tag-traffic-and-travel","tag-trains","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
