Barry Keoghan<\/a> says that online abuse about his appearance has made him not want to go outside.<\/p>\n

The actor recently appeared on SiriusXM\u2019s The Morning Mash Up, where he opened up about the \u201cnasty side\u201d of fame, saying: \u201cI remove myself from online, but I\u2019m still a human being that\u2019s curious.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of hate online,\u201d he added. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of abuse of how I look, and it\u2019s kind of past the point of \u2013 you know, everyone goes through that\u2026 but it\u2019s made me shy away. It\u2019s made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keoghan wrapped up his thoughts by noting that the hateful comments would also impact those closest to him. \u201cIt is disappointing for the fans, but it\u2019s also disappointing that my little boy has to read all of this stuff when he gets older,\u201d the Saltburn <\/a>star admitted.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time he\u2019s addressed online hate. In 2024, after breaking up with Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>, Keoghan took to social media to call out some of the \u201cdisgusting\u201d behaviour he faced from her fans<\/a>, after he said his name had \u201cbeen dragged across the internet\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Keoghan was on the show promoting his new film,\u00a0Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man<\/a>, which is on Netflix from today.<\/p>\n

He also discussed another hit film of his in 2023\u2019s Saltburn, and said the infamous scene featuring Sophie Ellis Bextor\u2019s<\/a> \u2018Murder On The Dancefloor\u2019 continued to follow him around. \u201cThey played it three times at the Vanity Fair (Oscars party)\u201d he recalled. \u201cI was like, \u2018Okay. We get it.\u2019 Honestly, three times. You know, I was like, \u2018What are they doing?\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n

Last month, Barry Keoghan\u00a0compared playing Tommy Shelby\u2019s son in the\u00a0Peaky Blinders\u00a0movie to playing Simba in\u00a0The Lion King<\/a>. \u201cHonestly!\u201d he said to\u00a0Empire Magazine. \u201cThe Lion King\u00a0was one of the ones that, for me, had that animalistic, father and son approach to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Irish actor is also set to play Ringo Starr<\/a> in four simultaneously released\u00a0Beatles<\/a> biopics scheduled for release in 2028. Sam Mendes will direct all four films, one for each member of the band. Keoghan is joined by\u00a0Paul Mescal<\/a>\u00a0as\u00a0Paul McCartney<\/a>, Joseph Quinn as\u00a0George Harrison<\/a>, and Harris Dickinson as\u00a0John Lennon<\/a>. Recently,\u00a0the first official images of the actors in character were released.<\/a><\/p>\n
