Paris Jackson<\/a> has hit out at the upcoming Michael Jackson<\/a> biopic, branding it \u2018dishonest\u2019 and a \u2018fantasy\u2019 as her long-running dispute with the executors of her father\u2019s estate escalates.<\/p>\n The 27-year-old has repeatedly criticised the film about Michael Jackson<\/a>, which is due for release in April, arguing it presents a version of events she does not recognise. <\/p>\n She has said biopics in general are \u2018Hollywood\u2019 creations that are often \u2018sold to you as real\u2019 despite being filled with \u2018inaccuracy\u2019 and \u2018full-blown lies.\u2019<\/p>\n Paris has also taken aim at estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain, accusing them of mismanaging funds and lacking transparency since her father\u2019s death in 2009. <\/p>\n She has claimed that estate money is being used to bankroll risky projects, including the reported $150 million biopic, which she described as a \u2018botched production\u2019 when facing them in court earlier this month, according to TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n Among her criticisms, she questioned the decision to cast Miles Teller as Branca, suggesting it was an expensive choice with unclear commercial value. <\/p>\n \t\t She also pointed to reports of costly reshoots, arguing they may stem from production issues and legal constraints around previously filmed material.<\/p>\n She said: \u2018\u2026the estate has had to fund tens of millions of dollars in reshoots after the terms of a well-known settlement agreement prevented the production from using substantial amounts of footage already shot.\u2019<\/p>\n The estate\u2019s lawyers have strongly rejected her claims, calling them \u2018without merit\u2019 and accusing her of making \u2018headline-grabbing\u2019 allegations.<\/p>\n \t\t In a statement to TMZ<\/a>,attorney Jonathan Steinsapir said Paris and her legal team were raising concerns that had already been addressed and were more focused on \u2018media games\u2019 than the facts.<\/p>\n He defended Branca and McClain\u2019s track record, pointing to the estate\u2019s transformation from significant debt into a multi-billion-dollar business. <\/p>\n He added that exploring a major film about Jackson\u2019s life would be \u2018irresponsible not to\u2019 given the success of similar music biopics.<\/p>\n \t\t Steinsapir said: \u2018Ms\u00a0Jackson has already received roughly $65 million in benefits and stands to inherit many hundreds of millions more.<\/p>\n \u2018This is from an estate that was $500 million in debt and facing bankruptcy at the time of Michael\u2019s death, but was turned by the executors into a business generating billions in revenue.\u2019<\/p>\n Paris has distanced herself entirely from the project, saying she reviewed an early draft of the script but felt her concerns were ignored: \u2018Not my monkeys, not my circus,\u2019 she wrote on social media<\/a> at the time, making clear she has no involvement.<\/p>\n Actor Colman Domingo, 55, who is set to portray Michael\u2019s father, Joe Jackson, in the film, spoke to\u00a0People<\/a>\u00a0in September and suggested that Michael\u2019s children had been supportive of the project.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018[Michael\u2019s kids Paris and Prince are] very much in support of our film,\u2019 Domingo said. \u2018I\u2019m excited to be here at amfAR tonight with Paris. It feels like that\u2019s a nice way for us to be together.\u2019<\/p>\n He also claimed that Paris had been \u2018very helpful\u2019 during the process, describing Prince as \u2018a man of the film.\u2019<\/p>\n Paris, however, quickly took to\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0to deny the comments.<\/p>\n \u2018@Kingofbingo don\u2019t be telling people I was helpful on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol that is so weird,\u2019 she wrote on her\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0Story on Tuesday, September 2.<\/p>\n She clarified that while she had read an early draft of the script, her role ended there: \u2018I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my thoughts on what was dishonest\/didn\u2019t sit right with me and when they didn\u2019t address it I moved on with my life.<\/p>\n \u2018Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.\u2019<\/p>\n Michael Jackson, who died in 2009 at the age of 50, had a famously fraught relationship with his father, writing Joe Jackson out of his will before his death. Joe died in 2018.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Domingo previously told People he intended to approach the role with complexity and nuance: \u2018I want to find their humanity, I want to find their heart and their humor. It may go against public\u00a0opinion<\/a>\u00a0sometimes, but I think that\u2019s my responsibility to find the complex version of these people.\u2019<\/p>\n The biopic \u2014 simply titled Michael \u2014 has faced years of delays.
