The incident, which left Harding’s 11-year-old daughter \u201cextremely shaken\u201d, prompted a public outcry from Harding\u2019s husband, former Premier League footballer Jorginho<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jorginho, who plays for Flamengo, took to Instagram on Saturday to criticise Roan, claiming her security spoke \u201cin an extremely aggressive manner\u201d to his wife and daughter. He accused the singer of not appreciating her supporters, adding: \u201cWithout your fans, you would be nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n In an Instagram post on Sunday, Ms Harding clarified that her daughter had not approached Roan, nor was she using her phone, after spotting the singer during breakfast. <\/p>\n Instead, she simply smiled as Roan walked past their table. \u201cShe literally didn\u2019t do anything; she just looked at her and smiled. She came back and she actually said to me \u2018Mum, I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s her.\u2019 Because obviously she looked like, you know, with her costumes and everything, she looks a little bit different,\u201d Ms Harding recounted.<\/p>\n Ms Harding stated that a security guard then approached them, speaking in an \u201caggressive tone\u201d to \u201cberate and scold\u201d them while they were eating. \u201cEven if she did send him or she didn\u2019t send him, I don\u2019t know, for me it felt like it really overstepped a boundary,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Chappell Roan<\/a>, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, later responded to the allegations<\/a>, asserting that neither Ms Harding nor her daughter had approached her, and crucially, that the security guard involved was not part of her personal detail. <\/p>\n Speaking on her Instagram stories, the 28-year-old singer said: \u201cI didn\u2019t even see, I didn\u2019t even see a woman and a child like\u2026 no one came up to me, no one bothered me like I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel. I think these people were staying at the hotel as well.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cI did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child, I did not. They did not come up to me. They weren\u2019t doing anything. It\u2019s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn\u2019t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there\u2019s no action even taken.\u201d<\/p>\n Lying in bed during her video message, Roan added: \u201cI do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children \u2013 that is crazy. I\u2019m sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something, and that\u2026 if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite Roan\u2019s denial, Ms Harding maintained that the security guard was not hotel staff but rather someone who \u201clooks after artists\u201d and was \u201cwith her\u201d.
