Barry Manilow<\/a> has given fans a new update after “very depressing” health news. The legendary singer, 82, has been very open with his fans in recent months after being diagnosed with lung cancer.<\/a><\/p>\n

Following his diagnosis, Barry was forced to cancel a string of concerts, including his Las Vegas residency,<\/a> in order to focus on his recovery. At the time, he said a visit from his surgeon had been “very depressing”, and he was adamant he would be fit to be on stage soon.<\/p>\n

This, however, was not the case, with Barry being ordered to rest more, with the doctor saying that while he may be mentally ready to hit the road again, his body wasn’t ready. “You won’t make it through,” Barry’s doctor warned.<\/p>\n

However, he’s now shared some exciting news with fans \u2013 in the form of new music. Barry, who is best known for hits such as Mandy, Copacabana (At The Copa), and I Wanna Do It With You, will release the album, named What A Time, on June 5, with Sun Shine, the single written with Gary Barlow, out now.<\/p>\n

What A Time is the New York-born star’s 33rd studio album, and his first record of predominantly original songs since 2011\u2019s 15 Minutes. It also features collaborations with singer Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, nine-time Grammy winner Dave Cobb, and co-writers Bruce Sussman and Adrienne Anderson.<\/p>\n

His label says the album “pairs Manilow’s signature melodic grandeur with fresh textures and stylistic turns \u2014 from classic, string-swept torch songs to groove-driven R&B flourishes, heartland rock touches, and gospel-inspired crescendos.”<\/p>\n

The record features 13 tracks and is available to pre-order on CD and vinyl, and pre-save on streaming. Reacting to the news, one fan said: “Finally, LOOK AT ME NOW is getting released on an album!! Ever since I heard it on the Songs from the Manilow Vault website in the 2000s, that song has been a personal favourite.”<\/p>\n

“This album is a dream come true for so many fans,” said a second. While a third went on to write: “Listening from Amelia Island FL\u2026What beautiful start to my day! The same feelings we share when we see YOU Barry. What a Time we are still having.”<\/p>\n

“So excited for the release,” gushed a fourth. A fifth commented: “I knew it! Your new album! I can’t wait to get my copy!” It comes as Manilow prepares to tour the UK with tickets on sale now for dates at London’s O2 Arena, Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, Cardiff’s Utilita Arena, the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds, Liverpool\u2019s M&S<\/a> Bank Arena, and Birmingham\u2019s BP Pulse Live, in June.<\/p>\n

The album comes after Manilow broke Elvis Presley’s record of 636 for most shows performed in Las Vegas in 2023 with his current long-running residency at the Westgate casino and resort.<\/p>\n

Manilow has achieved seven UK top 10 albums, including a number one with Barry Live In Britain, and one UK top 10 single with I Wanna Do It With You.<\/p>\n

The singer began his career in the early 1960s, and had his first hit in the UK with Mandy in 1975, and has gone on to sell more than 85 million records as a solo artist worldwide, being nominated for 15 Grammy Awards, and winning one.<\/p>\n
