{"id":493103,"date":"2026-03-24T19:05:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T19:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/493103\/"},"modified":"2026-03-24T19:05:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T19:05:09","slug":"stem-cell-donation-reunites-jersey-school-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/493103\/","title":{"rendered":"Stem cell donation reunites Jersey school friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Two women who went to school together have been reunited through their experiences with stem cell donations and are urging people to join registers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Beth Bowyer, 26, who now lives in Manchester, signed up to the stem cell register in 2019 by doing an &#8220;easy cheek swab&#8221;, and last year received a call confirming she was a match for a critically ill patient overseas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Bowyer said: &#8220;I thought it would be scary, but it was like giving blood for a few hours.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Isabel Marsh, 26, who lives in Jersey, was diagnosed with leukaemia, a cancer of the white blood cells, in March 2021 when she was 21.
