Anthropic says it has safeguards in place to prevent common risks like prompt injection, and it will limit access to certain \u201coff limits\u201d apps (e.g., \u201cinvestment and trading platforms, cryptocurrency\u201d) by default.<\/p>\n
Anthropic also notes on a support page<\/a> that the model is trained to avoid \u201crisky operations\u201d such as moving or investing money, modifying files, scraping facial images, or inputting \u201csensitive data.\u201d But the company also warns that such training safeguards \u201caren\u2019t perfect\u201d and \u201caren\u2019t absolute,\u201d meaning that \u201cClaude may occasionally act outside these boundaries.\u201d<\/p>\n Anthropic also warns that, when computer use is activated, Claude will be able to see anything visible on-screen, including \u201cpersonal data, sensitive documents, or private information.\u201d For all these reasons, the company recommends \u201cstarting with the apps you trust and not working with sensitive data\u201d during this research preview stage.<\/p>\n Anthropic\u2019s announcement comes just weeks after the rollout of Perplexity\u2019s Personal Computer<\/a>, Manus\u2019s My Computer<\/a>, and Nvidia\u2019s NemoClaw<\/a>, which similarly let their AI agents take direct control of the desktop.
