The Ljungleden cycle path is a 170km combination of dedicated bike trails and low-traffic roads in Sweden<\/a>, and it\u2019s officially opening in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n Cyclists will pass through a mixture of countryside and urban areas on their way from Gothenburg to the northwest town of Falk\u00f6ping, on a trail that allows for short day trips or multi-day journeys, and is suitable for casual riders as well as serious cyclists.\u00a0<\/p>\n Recommended: Here are the very best things to do in Sweden<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The\u00a0route\u00a0is named after the Swedish term for the violet\u00a0heather flowers that cyclists will bike through, and passes towns such as V\u00e5rg\u00e5rda, Herrljunga, and Alings\u00e5s, nicknamed the \u2018capital of fika\u2019 (Sweden\u2019s coffee and cake culture).\u00a0<\/p>\n In fact, western Sweden is a champion of food tourism \u2013 there\u2019s an array of sweet little caf\u00e9s dotted throughout the region, each of which rely on locally-sourced produce, as well as farm shops and brilliant restaurants.\u00a0<\/p>\n If you want to take your trip further, Ljungleden actually connects what are already two of Sweden\u2019s most established long-distance cycling routes.
