It was confirmed earlier this month that former Hollyoaks star Owen Warner would be taking to the stage for his first theatre role, and we now have our first-look pictures as he takes on a classic text from Agatha Christie.

The actor, who played Romeo Nightingale for six years before departing the Channel 4 soap in 2024, was announced as part of the cast for London County Hall’s production of Witness for the Prosecution, the latest retelling of Christie’s 1953 play.

The production has been running since 2017 with an ever-changing group of actors, with Warner being joined by Eleanor Sutton, Simon Cotton, Matthew White, Michael Mears and David Whitworth among others.

The group, which is the 15th collection of actors to take part in the production, began their stint last week (17 March), and some newly-released images depict Warner in the role of Leonard Vole.

Furthermore, the production has been extended until 25 April 2027, taking the show into its 10th year. Performances run from Tuesdays to Saturdays at 7.30pm, with matinees on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Warner’s character Leonard is the man facing the prosecution, with the action picking up after he is accused of murdering a wealthy widow. The defense claims he is innocent, while the prosecution states he wanted to inherit her money.

“The audience are thrillingly placed in the thick of the action, as Agatha Christie’s story of justice, passion and betrayal unfolds around them,” reads the logline for the play, which was adapted into a feature film in 1957.

“The twists and turns of the case are played out in a spectacular courtroom setting, as prosecution battles defence, and witnesses take to the stand to give their shocking testimonies,” it continues.
