Gesy beneficiaries will be able to use a barcode to collect prescriptions from pharmacies from Friday, removing the need to verbally provide personal details, the health insurance organisation (HIO) said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The barcode will be issued electronically through the system\u2019s beneficiaries portal and can be displayed on a mobile phone, tablet or similar device.<\/p>\n
Pharmacists will scan the code to access and process prescriptions immediately, streamlining the procedure and enhancing privacy for patients.<\/p>\n
The new measure is intended to address concerns over the sharing of personal data in pharmacy settings, particularly in the presence of other customers.<\/p>\n
An official statement said the change will allow prescriptions to be filled \u201cwithout requiring any verbal reporting of personal data\u201d, offering a more discreet alternative for users of the system.<\/p>\n
The barcode will be accessible under the \u201cavailable referrals\u201d section of the portal, within the prescriptions category.<\/p>\n
Once presented, it will link directly to the patient\u2019s prescription details, reducing administrative steps.<\/p>\n
Despite the introduction of the new system, existing options will remain in place.<\/p>\n
